Why art should matter to start with?

Art is a necessity in a space. This is what each of us should probably feel, and we will feel it once art becomes a part of our lives through our walls featuring them. The reason being, only once we have the presence of an artwork in a space, we realize its irreplaceable nature and value. There can be no one piece like the other as far as the authenticity factor goes.

That is why it becomes exceedingly important that we recognize and cognitively, consciously pay heed to what an artwork does in a space and to the people inhabiting the space. The senses are aware, the sensibility is conveyed, resonance is established and there is a certain empathy with which the expression thereof, establishes itself which builds and becomes a relationship to cherish and to grow with / in.

There can be no replacement to what we feel, for example, in front of the murals at the Rothko Chapel by Mark Rothko, or, in front of a painting like Guernica, by Picasso. When we stand in front of these paintings, there is a certain impression at first and a certain impact at length consequently that we can call perceived impact.

Whether it be abstract paintings for our offices, as in, corporate office paintings or paintings for our homes, as in even customized paintings, at the end of the day we need empathy, we need resonance and we need harmony amongst all the elements in the space, where the space gets tied in together with a great aesthetic, sensibility, and ambience. Where we find our energies amidst everything. The energy we want to feel in our space may be different every day. But the advantage of an abstract painting is that unlike the staple, obvious, objective, and defined implications of realistic or figurative paintings, abstract painting gives to you the energy you want to take. And, therefore, when an abstract painting adores your walls with the concepts or themes that you want in your space, a good abstract painting adds or rather expands with focus, the non-figurative but effective energy that you want to feel in your space.

Why the relationship between the décor of the home and painting becomes important?

Paintings are not merely objects to decorate spaces with. They are entities that enhance and transform spaces with their presence of visual language, energetic conveyance and meaning and resonance. There can be much more to the paintings of course as far as tying up a space or matching the aesthetics and colour palettes of the space where that is concerned. What is important then is to put in place the larger scheme of things as to how the painting fits in as well as stands out as a creation by itself and a creation of its own as part of the creation of space too as that is the environment it is going to inhibit with its aura, authenticity, and uniqueness.

Referencing Walter Benjamin’s essays on art works and their reproductions in this contemporary age, the space and time are integral parts of a work’s life that it takes on. The aura and the energy that a work of art builds are so invisibly powerful that there can be no deeper nuance than feeling that resonance in that space and that is why authenticity sits so rooted in tradition of ritual as Benjamin mentions because the space is like a working ritual where the inhabiting people perform their tasks in life and this painting in their space works as a tool to enhance energy, enrich their lives and add to visual language being empowered in the space.

Why the paintings should matter most in a space is to add that passive active contradiction and still dynamic juxtaposition. Example, one looks at a painting such as starry night in a light room and feels the dynamism in that stillness and on the other hand looks at Monet’s Haystacks in a dark brown room made with wooden logs and feels that stillness in the same tool of lines that in Starry Night were dynamic feel here, still and calming of course due to the colors too but most importantly and mostly determining, due to the relationship between the colors and light in the space vs to the colors and tonal value created in the painting.

What of the relationship between time, space, and paintings in home décor?

In home décor, paintings not only contribute to the energy as a primary function, but also act as tools to balance the space out, bringing the space together, leading to being an excellent investment as well, in the future as art appreciates in value and stature. Grows and evolves with the relevantly evolving times and timelines of mankind too! There can be no replacement to what we call our home or where we work with our best energies possible for our offices too, and so it is for paintings too. That energy becomes irreplaceable as it leaves an indelible mark of memory on one who really resonates, receives, and experiences openly and most honestly what a painting has to offer.

There can and will be of course different interpretations to an artwork across spaces, across time, across changing times and evolving timelines of generations that went and those to come. But an artist doesn’t need to necessarily fear becoming irrelevant unless open, conscious, and keen to keep understanding aspects of the world continuously, consciously and in our most uncanny, artistic ways possible. The aspects of time, space and paintings in the space created and received in time come together co-dependently rather than co-exist, is something of magic with the amount of interpretation and potential.

Abstract paintings for homes and abstract paintings for offices are often what we mostly choose with utmost care and consciousness. The reason so is because they matter that much to us in our personal spaces. There can be paintings that complete spaces, that just add to spaces like one never imagined, that tie up the colors and elements in the space altogether and paintings that are also stand-alone pieces in spaces where there can be a focal point in the space as the painting will inevitably draw attention and gain appeal.

Another aspect of abstract paintings in time and space in home décor is that they help one express oneself representing who one is. One’s personality is reflected through the kind of art not only which they make but also majorly through the art they buy. What they resonate with is what tells us what they see once we speak to them and eventually, we get informed of how that work of art adds to their space and how it enriches their life.

How do I choose the paintings to make my home décor look best?

The type of paintings each one would want in their respective spaces vary, as it is so very subjective. But, having said that, even other than the points discussed till now in this article, there can be other factors as well that determine which abstract paintings would do the most suitable job in your space. To start with the additional points here, just as an accentuation of what has been stated earlier here, about choosing a painting that is closest to the personality of yourself and the personality you want to feel in your space. Then you see the suitability works and then visual language, design affiliations and visual balance plays out to check effectivity and matching sensibilities. The appeal is what gets on or not with quality as well as its quantitative abilities to get attention or distract eyes to feel any energy.

Conceptual abstract paintings bring in many-a-time depth and thought-provoking stirs amongst viewers and perception rests upon the various contexts that one comes from to view it and the contents come into play when creation is received in that context. That’s when one sees what one looks for or rather one looks for what one wants to see. There can be a two away street or a single way too depending on what one wants to perceive of, by and for. Perception being a game of variables can also be a sensitive game of constants. There can be no measurable quantities to how sensitive or not, or how efficient or not, one’s perception is as far as art goes since not only creating but also viewing becomes so much of a subjective experience for all.

How do we experience abstract paintings in our homes or abstract paintings in our offices?

There can be no two same experiences of the same work. There can be similar ones but identical ones in my knowledge cannot exist due to the nature of one human being not being relocatable rather the nature of art works being reproducible could bring in different experiences. What we feel in our spaces also is another two way street. On one side being how we feel first and then therefore, how the space feels when we enter it. In context with content to the space then our feelings drift, interconnect, settle and stay or grow then to be what they become when we start to experience the spatial elements all including the paintings and ourselves placed in that space.

The nature of the paintings then come into play where then we sit and see what it does to us when we observe a particular piece of art in the same space on the same wall with that same approach that our mood navigates us throughout, in that same ambience with that same headspace. After a while of experiencing the painting, then what happens or then how does it all feel becomes a vitally transformative and impactful question to ask either way to appreciate, acknowledge and register, to remember. Once all done, there can be only two ways to getting to a consensus of whether one likes it or not. One, to experience it visually and say yes or no or experience it beyond visually and say yes or no.

Why it is so is because there are many people to want something abstract but not necessarily with multiple implications, layers, explanations, contexts, or narratives but a pretty wall hanging which is also not anything to be demeaned of value. It is just that if a work of art doesn’t move beyond visual language to a viewer, there is a window of perception not utilized for its natural light which can do much good to experience a painting in our space. Moving beyond just the appearance of an artwork can do much more for us as viewers and buyers holding art works special to us in our spaces. As, if our spaces grow fonder to us, even people coming in on visit will see that difference and bond come alive between time space and artwork which makes the décor and ambience energetically, mentally, physically, and emotionally for us.

What can you do, to bring your home décor alive with paintings?

In today’s world of rapidly developing trends, rapidly flourishing industries and rapidly dying fads too, we do see a transient nature of notions of beauty, aesthetic, and patterns of peoples’ engagement both in terms of tastes and preferences as well as in terms of lifestyle and expression. With popular colour palettes and popular décor appearances today from all the fodder of references we have available to us today offline and online, there can be no doubt that customized paintings on sale which one can buy and that are made to order would rank topmost on making the space special, in my knowledge. The reason being, when one wants to have a theme in the space, understands one’s requirements and takes steps to build further the energy from where interiors and decorators have left the projects, the consequential run through happens to be one of ultimate reference to that of the running palette, light, colors, elemental theme, and energy.

It is all about personalization. One needs to fish deep to see what suits best to get closest to the energy needed in the space and how it can be possible. It could take some gathering grit, prolonged passion, and increased introspection to expect as well as extract energy to fill up one’s space. There can be no parallel to a relationship to an artwork as it is a very special one, a one of great depth, intensity, resonance, empathy, and treasure. What it does to a space is largely placed or based on who inhabits the space and how too. For example, a painting of lines of an ocean and boat could do something totally different in a meditation room from what it would do in a living room. The operational efficacies, impact, energy, everything shifts. Everything evolves differently and when paintings in home décor don’t work with as much effectivity as they can, it does tend to be inefficient to the energy requirements and vibes required.

Therefore, in conclusion, why do paintings matter in home décor?

Spaces build their personalities with the elements that go into them. The elemental nature of spaces is what then determines the energies of spaces. The energies of spaces are then what determine how one feels when one enters. The determinants for the people who make these spaces lived in are always crucial to how one builds the relationship with the ambience and therefore succeed or not in making it what one wants it to be. Success ratio in terms of an artwork depends on how apt the customization becomes to the client requirement. There can be no better measurement to the success of an artwork than for its owner or buyer to say that they find it to suit their requirement best.

They find it resonant, enriching, immersing, involving, and evolving with time and meaning. There can be multiple ways in which art works matter to their spaces and people. But the essence of an artwork in my eyes can be understood only when one doesn’t see that painting in its place and that missing and feeling of emptiness or hollow is what makes a painting special. The core of paintings performing well in spaces lies in their alignment and expansion of energies, their poignant nature to move and impact, and elevate the space to feel wholesome or fulfilling can be one of engrossed impression and ever belonging memory.
