“Curiosity about life in all of its aspects, I think is still the secret of great creative people.” – Leo Burnett
Knowing the unknown has been something that has always been instinctive to the human being as a default setting of universal nature. Anything that we humans do is for development or to know something that we may already not and therefore it is indeed curiosity that sparks the doors open to start on the path of exploration. There is a chain of curiosity that we need to be mindful of here. The artist being curios about research and mediums. The audience being curious about the background of the work and exploring the consequence. There is an inherent urge for us as creative people to draw inspiration and insight from our daily lives. The nuance is in finding the beauty in the little things and emotional treasures that make our relationships valuable. The nature of the human mind to be curious and understand more about things, people, the world, history and our future can definitely help us live better and love better. As creative people, even our imaginations stem from the same curiosity that makes us ask the questions and the quest that gives us our leads and answers. There is a lot of uncertainity with the unknown but isn’t that also what makes the creative process all the more fascinating and fun? Well, here the essence of what I draw from what Leo Burnett is saying is that unless we are curious, constantly, to learn, to take, to create and to give, we cannot be our best versions creatively as it is from life that we take inspiration and it is to life we giove our creations. This cycle can be at its best only if we give our best curiosities a chance to flourish creatively and blossom fully.
