The German artist Martin Kippenberger once said, “A good artist has less time than ideas.”
As Creators, we think, brainstorm and execute all the aspects of a creation. We manifest its being, concepts, realities, imaginations, qualities, quantities, strengths, weaknesses, messages, impacts, interpretations and much more. What the creation has to offer stays put even after we as Creators exit the world, and, so do our ideas during our lifetimes. As artists, we are always booming with so many ideas to formulate and execute, that one lifetime, however long, seems to look and feel short.
As artists honest to our craft and process, what we sow is not necessarily all that we reap (expectations at the beginning and outcomes at the end). What we sow could be too much to reap in one lifetime. Time as we all know is relative, but for a good artist as mentioned above, it could feel limiting, burdensome and restrained from the lens of ideas moving. The dynamic relationship which ideas have with time can be mysterious, sacred or even liberating in many ways.
There are always uncanny aspects in this sphere, as questions are more than answers in terms of possibilities. Time scalable in quantity, reduces itself to the speed and quantity of ideas. Additionally, for us as Creators, one may agree that ideas face no hierarchy, they either flow and work through us or they simply don’t, in the scheme of time.
Therefore, as Creators we definitely have lesser time in our lives than ideas and that is what makes every minute of our lives filled with curiosity, intrigue, excitement, greed to explore and execute what we envision most efficiently and joyfully!
